How to use Resize Image

  1. Select or drag an image.
  2. Enter a new width and height, or choose a preset.
  3. Click Resize and download the new image.

Popular sizes

Instagram post 1080×1080, Instagram story 1080×1920, YouTube thumbnail 1280×720, Facebook cover 820×312, and passport photo 600×600. Choose a preset to fill them in instantly.

Keep aspect ratio

With “Keep aspect ratio” on, changing the width automatically updates the height so your image is never stretched.

Resize vs compress

Resizing changes the width and height in pixels; compressing reduces the file size in KB. A form that asks for “200 × 230 pixels” needs resizing, while one that asks for “under 50KB” needs compression. For both, resize first and then compress.

Pixels, inches and DPI

Printed size depends on DPI (dots per inch). At 300 DPI, a 600 × 600 pixel image prints at 2 × 2 inches — the standard US passport photo size. For screens, only the pixel dimensions matter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I resize to an exact size without stretching?

Turn off “Keep aspect ratio” to set any width and height. If the shape differs from the original, the image will be stretched, so crop first if you need to keep proportions.

Does resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Enlarging beyond the original size can make it look soft, because new pixels have to be created.

Which output format will I get?

You can choose JPG, PNG or WebP.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device, so they stay completely private.
